-
Once daily, all floors are swept and mopped by building maintenance.
-
Instructors are to ensure that students are following all safety and hygiene regulations.
-
Clothes and body must be clean for all classes.
Make-up – Safety & Hygiene Rules to Follow:
-
Read all directions and warnings on packaging and follow carefully
-
If make-up is irritating the skin remove it and discontinue use
-
Remember that the skin can absorb chemicals and cause injury.
-
Use adequate ventilation at all times.
-
Never apply anything you do not know how to remove.
-
When experimenting with household items use extra caution. Sticking to food items is the safest, but even then, think before acting.
-
Never use anything toxic or that puts either you or your subject at a health risk. It isn’t worth the problems.
-
Never use anything that may irritate skin.
-
If you’re not sure, don’t try it.
-
Keep make-up kit clean. If a pressed powder shatters and spills, make sure to clean it up!
-
Wash hands or use hand sanitizer before and after applying make-up to each person.
-
Wash all brushes after every use with brush cleaner. Once a week (or more if needed) shampoo and condition your brushes like you would your hair and set out to dry overnight. This will help them last longer.
-
Washing with soap and water or your brush cleanser does not completely disinfect, a quick dunk in some isopropyl alcohol will kill any germs. Keep in mind though that some glue used to hold in brush bristles may not like it and the brushes may fall apart faster.
-
Do not use cream or liquid make-up straight from its container. Put a small amount on a palette with your CLEAN spatula and use it from there.
-
If color or smell of the make-up changes discard it!
-
Never use eye products like mascara on more than one person. Eye infections spread very easily this way. Always use a disposable mascara wand – One dip per application! Once the wand touches the eye it CANNOT go back into the mascara. Mascara should be thrown out after 2 to 3 months.
-
Eyeliner and lip liner pencils MUST be sharpened before EACH use; doing so in front of your client ensures peace of mind.
-
All brushes and tools must be kept on the towel – never touching the surface of the table/workstation.
-
Sponges, cotton pads, cotton swabs etc. are thrown out after each person/application.
-
If you touch a surface during your application, you will need to use hand sanitizer again before you continue.
