Teen Job Shadowing for Independent Filmmaking
Ever wanted to get involved in filmmaking? Ever wanted to perform in a movie or learn how to create staggering special effects for cinema? Here’s your chance!
New Image College, Vancouver’s #1 academy for film acting, film & TV make-up and special effects, wants you to job shadow on the set of our latest feature film!
What is job shadowing?
In December, five lucky students from high schools around Vancouver were given the opportunity to make their cinematic dreams a reality.
After registering for our winter job shadowing program, these talented young actors and make-up artists found themselves thrown into a real movie production. For several days, they helped out on the set of New Image Entertainment's upcoming feature film, The Clean-Up, directed by lauded independent filmmaker Chris Scheuerman.
The Clean-Up is a gritty crime thriller involving a near-future mafia that deals in illegal medical experiments. In helping bring this dystopian vision to the screen, our young trainees quickly became acquainted with gruesome special effects and emotional acting.
Over the course of a few days, they worked closely with cast and crew, received instructions from New Image make-up and acting teachers, and enjoyed the excitement of professional filmmaking. Our goal is to awaken creative passion in everyone we meet, and if the rave reviews from students and school administrators is any indication, we've more than met that goal!
New Image Entertainment makes one or more feature films a year, which means more exciting possibilities for young students. Due to the success of our first job shadowing adventure, we're bringing it back in 2012!
When is it?
Spring dates to be announced! Intern for three days (max. 10 hours per day) with working professionals and help us make a hit!
What students are saying!
"Working with New Image College for three days was a great opportunity I managed to be a part of. I learned more acting experience in those three days than I have in my entire life. The actors and staff that reside there were amazing and I will always be grateful for the opportunity that was presented to me and I hope I can return to New Image in the future as a student."
— Avery Sieben, Grade 12 drama student
What schools are saying!
"I can't thank [New Image] enough. Krystyna had the time of her life. And the experience really did help her help narrow her field for career choice. She's gifted in the Sciences, Writing, and Art, and always assumed she needed to pursue the academics even though her heart wasn't in it. Now she knows it definitely Art all the way. Thank you again with providing her with such a marvelous opportunity."
— Penny Griffin, Career Prep and Work Experience Coordinator, Grade 12 Academic Advisor, Pitt Meadows Secondary School
"Thanks again for the great experience for Avery... he was on a cloud the other day after being down there for two days."
