Congratulations to make-up graduate Tomasz Sosnowski, a budding master of make-up effects. According to him, he'll be heading to Montreal for the summer to work at Maestro FX under Academy Award-nominated make-up legend Adrien Morot!
Morot is one of Canada's acknowledged masters of special make-up effects. In addition to multiple Gemini wins over his career, Adrien was recently nominated for an Academy Award for his make-up effects in Canadian drama Barney's Version.
Over the last decade or so, Morot and his Maestro FX company have worked with the top stars in Hollywood, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Eddie Murphy and many more.
Maestro FX represents another step on the road of Tomasz's illustrious career, and it all started here at New Image! Trained under New Image instructors and pro Hollywood make-up artists Michelle Grady and Ryan Nicholson, Tomasz won a New Image Award for achievement in make-up during his studies here (check out our awards coverage here). He also interned with renowned make-up wizard Todd Masters shortly after graduation.
In February of this year, Tomasz was also invited to compete in the exclusive and prestigious IMATS competition in London, England, where he showcased his skills on the international stage.
New Image was all too happy to help him get there via an award that compensated his airfare for the event, and soon he'll be back on a plane for the next stage of his career. We wish him the best of luck.
It's not the first time a New Image graduate has landed a prestigious position at Maestro — 2010 saw our make-up graduate Jeanine Chau (profiled recently here) also working with Morot in Montreal, lending her skills to such Hollywood spectaculars such as Source Code with Jake Gyllenhaal and Tarsem Singh's Immortals. We anticipate that Tomasz will have similar high-profile films to his credit very soon.
Congrats, Tomasz!
