Merit-Based Scholarship Recipients Rise Above the Crowd
New Image College would like to congratulate the three successful applicants of the New Image High School Merit-Based Scholarship Program!
- Katrina S. from Fraser Heights Secondary
- Dakota V. from Langley Secondary
- Nadya D. from Northwest Territories
- Alex F. from Terry Fox Secondary
Out of the dozens of applicants, these three students rose above the crowd and supplied us with three amazing essays and successful interviews. They demonstrated true determination toward career success and a love of the performing arts, ably assisted by their high school drama teachers and career counselors.
Their transcript grades met our scholarship requirements (grade 11 and 12 drama at 80% and higher) and proved that they are ready to take on our training and excel in the film industry! Katrina, Dakota and Nadya will each be awarded $4,000 scholarship contributions towards their Studies.
Congratulations!
Teen Job Shadowing Participants Helping Us Make A Hit!
New Image would like to thank the various career counselors, administrators, and of course the incredibly talented and eager students themselves for making our teen job shadowing program a success for the second time!
This group of students, all from various secondary schools around the GVRD, helped New Image College and film production house New Image Entertainment in the production of A Safe Place, a zombie action thriller directed by Amir Aghelnejad. Production officially wrapped last week; check out some exciting production stills and progress videos on the official A Safe Place Facebook Page and read about it at New Image Entertainment.
Here's what these students had to say about their experience on set:
I thoroughly enjoyed the job shadowing experience at New Image as it gave me valuable work experience in my prospective career field. Everyone on set was exceptionally welcoming, and they all appeared grateful for the work I and the other shadowers were doing. Being on a real film set was exciting, and the only disappointment was the fact the experience only lasted 3 days.
- Amy P, Westview Maple Ridge Secondary
During my 3 day job shadowing with New Image College I learned a lot of the procedures on a film set. I was able to do various jobs with different people. I had a great time job shadowing and would love to work with New Image again.
- Joey L, Cariboo Secondary
I had a great time working with New Image on their film. I am greatly appreciative for being offered this opportunity to work on a professional film set. I learned the positions and tasks of each department from craft services to the art department and the actors. I will be able to take these experiences with me as I pursue my career in the film industry.
- Ashley W, Earl Marriot Secondary
Thank you so much to all the people at New Image College of Fine Arts for letting me participate in your program. I had so much fun meeting all the people that were working on set and helping with making the movie. How welcoming everyone was just made this whole thing 100 times better. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you ever need anyone to even clean up after. I really just loved the experience of being around all of you. Having the experience of being on set helping was just so nice. Once again thank you all so much. I hope to see you again.
- Shawna W, Hansworth Secondary
I just wanted to thank you for having our student, Krysti, for the 3 day job shadow. She came in to school this week and said it was such an amazing experience; she learned so much. Krysti also said that the students from your school were very welcoming and gave her a lot of information about your school and programs. She would recommend this job shadow to anyone! So thank you once again for the opportunity.
- Georgina Hopps, Career Development Facilitator at Eagle Panorama Ridge Secondary, regarding student Krysti L
