New Image College would like to congratulate the announced winners of May 25th's Crypticon Seattle Make-Up Competition! Together these diabolically talented contestants were awarded $40,000 in scholarships to New Image's illustrious make-up effects program!
Judged by a panel including New Image make-up department head and Gemini Award-winning special effects master Ryan Nicholson, the contest brought in dozens of applicants all vying to win the scholarships we offered as a reward to the top talents:
- 1st: $15,000 US
- 2nd: $10,000 US
- 3rd: $5,000 US
- 4th: $5,000 US
- 5th: $5,000 US
Five top contestants were chosen, and the artists were given two hours to create their best SFX and horror make-up, using only the provided materials on a model provided by Crypticon.
The event and make-up creation took place in Crypticon's public forum with Nicholson and other staff on hand to answer questions from the crowd during the contest. Make-up materials, provided by Crypticon and New Image, were used to create amazing effects live and on-site!
