The Last Days of Judas Iscariot
New Image College of Fine Arts professional acting school is proud to present our rendition of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, the 2005 hit from playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis.
The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is a darkly comic courtroom drama set in a Manhattan-esque corner of Purgatory called Hope, where the infamous traitor Judas Iscariot has been summoned by God to be re-tried for his crimes. Laywer Fabiana Aziza Cunningham, an agnostic, is called upon to defend Judas, while the corrupt Egyptian lawyer Yusef El-Fayoumy has been pulled from Hell to represent the prosecution.
Dozens of historical and Biblical characters have been summoned to the witness stand to help decide Judas’ fate – including Mother Theresa, Sigmund Freud, Simon the Zealot, Pontius Pilate and Satan himself. Their testimonies segue into wildly entertaining flashbacks to the life and death of Judas Iscariot — and we begin to wonder if he's really the monster he's cracked up to be.
As the trial nears its conclusion, the soul of Judas hangs in a balance – between law and justice, good and evil, Heaven and Hell, predestination and free will. The Last Days of Judas Iscariot addresses the big questions with wit, heart and depth.
The Last Days is a co-production between longtime collaborators Frank Cassini and Sarah-Jane Redmond, both international actors with decades-long careers.
