Nail Technician Diploma
20 WEEKS / 420 HOURS / 21 HOURS PER WEEK / 40 CREDITS
Our nail technician diploma program is an extensive program designed to shape a student into an employment-ready professional nail technican. This course is designed to give you both the practical skills as well as the business savvy to work in any salon in the nail division or even open your own private business with a specific focus on nail care and artificial nail extension and enhancement. Through the course of 20 weeks, you'll become skilled in shaping the nails, cuticle work, massage, and red/French polish application. Also included in the program is a full understanding of artificial nail extensions and proper application techniques, as well as spa manicure and pedicure techniques including paraffin, hot oil and stone massage techniques.
The course also emphasizes reflexology treatments when dealing with the feet. This ancient technique can be delivered through the fingers or with the use of warm stones. The benefits are endless and reflexology is a great alternative healing technique used for the ultimate health of the body. The student will then move on to artificial enhancements. This section will include tip, form, acrylic, gel and silk overlay application using creative nail products.
The last portion of the diploma program focuses on nail art and the use of all the different tools and equipment used to create your masterpieces. The student will get to explore their creative side and experiment with the many different techniques that create a unique, beautifully created nail. Overall, this nail program is all a passionate student needs to succeed as a nail technician in this ever-evolving industry.
Curriculum
ARTIFICIAL NAILS
105 HOURS/ 10 CREDITS/ 6 QUIZZES/ 1 EXAM
Understanding the different types of artificial nail enhancements and application techniques enhances the look of the hand and fingers and also corrects overly bitten nails. The use of the electric drill is essential for sculpting and buffing creating a perfect enhancement. Learning advanced nail art techniques allows you, the student, to explore your creative side.
Course Content: Basic chemistry, salon safety, acrylic/gel application over tips/forms, and silk nail wraps. Detailed airbrushing, nail drill techniques, three-dimensional acrylic art, free hand painting, layered coloured gel design, and water art.
MANICURES
63 HOURS/ 6 CREDITS/ 5 QUIZZES/ 2 EXAMS/ 1 PROJECT
The student will be fully competent in shaping the fingernails, thorough cuticle work, hand and arm massage, including red/French perfect polish application. An understanding of hot oil, paraffin wax, and hot stone treatments will help with customizing treatments.
Course Content: Manicuring, professional image, client consultation, treatment room setup, sanitation and disinfection, including anatomy and physiology of the hand and arm.
PEDICURES
84 HOURS/ 8 CREDITS/ 5 QUIZZES/ 3 EXAMS/ 1 PROJECT
The student will be fully competent in shaping the toe nails, thorough cuticle work, foot and leg massage, including red/French perfect polish application. An understanding of reflexology will help the student understand the benefits of stimulating certain reflex points on the foot.
Course Content: Pedicures, anatomy and physiology of the foot and leg, nail disorders, skin disorders, bacteria/disease, and reflexology.
SALON BUSINESS
42 HOURS/ 4 CREDITS/ 2 QUIZZES/ 1 EXAM
The student will have a full understanding of how to own and operate a spa or salon. This includes managing a budget, selling services and retail, advertising, and marketing. All of these components are important aspects of business. Vital self-marketing training includes formatting a perfect resume and cover letter.
Course Content: Business ownership, income, expenses, appointment keeping, promotions, knowledge of the features and benefits of products and services to maximize profit, and most importantly, setting goals.
SALON PRACTICAL
126 HOURS/ 12 CREDITS
The student will gain an understanding of how to run a salon and manage a schedule. They will also learning how to up sell services and retail products, in addition to gaining confidence working on clients in a spa atmosphere. Practical hours working with real clients will give the student the confidence they need to be successful in working in this rapidly growing industry.
Requirements
Applicants must display a high-level of interest in learning the skills used in a salon, spa, aesthetics and/or the rest of the beauty industry.
When submitting an application, you must attach an application assessment essay (500 words) about you and your dream of becoming an aesthetician or nail technician. Please note that this essay will be an essential factor when assessing your application for admission.
Applicants must also meet the general requirements as well as the English requirements. No past experience is required.

Tuition Fees
Option 1 - Tuition if paid by payment plan: $4,200.00
Option 2- Tuition if paid in full at the time of registration: $3,700.00
The above prices do not include the application fee and the student completion fund contribution. Additional fees apply for international co-op program participants.
