Carla Alcántara was born in Mexico City in 1990. Graduated in Science Communications from Universidad del Valle de México in Mexico City and exchange student at Santa Fe University of Art and Design, New Mexico studying photography, film, dance, musical theatre and stage lighting.
Awarded scholarship student from Danza Tres in Mexico City where she gets involved into the show biz dancing with artists and musical theatre shows in their tours around the country. Supported student at Harbour Dance Centre, Vancouver BC during summer 2010, awarded scholarship at Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop in University of Colorado in 2016 and full tuition program for ARCOS- Cultivating the whole artist in Austin, Texas, with the company ARCOS with whom she was hired to do a photo-video installation in collaboration with other artists. Graduated from a 2-year diploma in the Center of Dance and Scene Production of Baja California, a program funded by the contemporary dance company “Lux Boreal” in Tijuana with whom she made a residency for three years receiving professional dance training and collaborating with photography and dance. Invited to dance with La Silla Danza, a local dance company in Tijuana, finalist at 4X4 Tj Night, a choreographic contest, WOW (Without Walls) festival in San Diego, California and selected as one of the 25 visions of Baja California for her outstanding photographic work.
In 2019 she creates TEMPO Dance & Visual Art, a multidisciplinary art company where she integrates dance and visual art in order to generate her own artistic speech. Selected company to dance in festivals around Mexico and Sibu International Dance Festival in Malaysia.
Nowadays Carla resided in Vancouver BC, studying an Associate in Arts with a focus in marketing, is a dancer, choreographer, photographer and teacher working to grow through art and generating work for the community that surrounds her.
