The Giggle Dam Dinner theatre operates Vancouver Horror Nights. For over 20 years the cast of the Giggle Dam has entertained the greater Vancouver area with our 5 seasonal musical comedy shows. This year, the Giggle Dam presents its second annual Haunted House.
Vancouver Horror Nights is seeking talented “scare experts” for its 2021 haunted house attraction. This is our second year in operation. Haunt acting is 1/3 losing yourself, 1/3 mascot, and 1/3 performance art. We’re looking for energetic people who want to work in a fun, open atmosphere are the most successful at doing this. Artists, musicians, drama kids, weirdos, horror fanatics also fit in nicely but you must be self starting and motivated. Ain’t no such thing as a halfway monster right?
Applicants must audition for monster roles. These jobs require wearing costumes and make up or masks. The actors/actresses’ main responsibility is to scare and entertain guests in the haunted events but there is no physical contact with our guests. We also respect social distancing, but still aim to get the classic technical scare.
All cast who attend each production days, all training sessions, and assist with teardown prior to the cast party will be given a generous, retroactive wage upgrade bonus at the conclusion of the haunted house.
A Day In The After-Life Of A Scare Actor
Monsters like to sleep late, so their day starts at 4pm (less daylight left)
From 4 to 5:45 it’s into costume and make-up and a lot of “hurry up and wait”
6pm the Haunt is opened to public
Every creature will be relieved by another scare actor for a 30min break
10:45pm the last timeslot for hapless victims to enter the maze
11pm-ish till 11:30pm-ish, we toss out the pieces of the last few bodies
From close till midnight it’s out of costume and back to the mundane
No experience necessary, but would be an asset — we provide great training at our Scare School weekend.
