Katherine Hill (Kat) is an award winning British Screenwriter, Director and Acting coach. She received her B.A Honours in Film and Theatre at The University of Reading, the leading British Uni for its course. Katherine specialized in European Cinema, British Cinema, Alternative Film, World Cinema and US Cinema. In the UK, she was involved in a variety of theatrical plays, taking leading roles such as Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), Claire Zachanassian (The Visit), Eleanor (Sense and Sensibility) and other leading roles in various musicals and British plays.
In 2004, Katherine moved to Vancouver, BC where she studied Film acting at the Vancouver Film School and took a multitude of On Camera and Scene Study classes. In 2009, she co-founded a small production company where she wrote, produced and directed short films that screened at Los Angeles film festivals and launched her love of independent film, working in various roles behind that camera as well as in front of it.
As an acting coach, Katherine has been involved with projects such as The Shack (Lionsgate) and The Exorcist S2 (FOX) and worked with both children and adults. She coaches actors privately, helping them find their most authentic and natural self while remaining faithful to telling the story.
As a filmmaker, Katherine’s projects have centred around social issues such as human trafficking and domestic abuse and has presented one of her films “Coerced” at conferences on sex trafficking. The film has been used in schools to educate social workers.
Katherine has an MA in Film at Raindance, a practical Masters in filmmaking, specializing in screenwriting and defining your voice as a writer. She has also created work on writing low-to-no budget films and crafting narrative social issue screenplays. A graduate of UCLA’s Screenwriting program, Katherine is no stranger to the world of film and education and passionately engages with her students to share her knowledge and love of cinema and the arts.
Her recent accolades include winning Best Feature Script at the Paris Art & Movie Awards and being a Finalist for the Atlanta Film Festival, 2021.
