From Classroom to Career: Nanami Noda Thriving in Japan!

We’re thrilled to share the inspiring story of Nanami Noda, a NIC Esthetics graduate, who recently landed her dream job at a medical beauty clinic in Japan as a physician assistant and concierge. Read below the Q&A we had with her to find out more about her journey, her experiences at NIC, and her advice for aspiring beauty professionals.

Tell us a bit about yourself: What are your interests, where are you living, and how have things been since graduating?

I live in Tokyo, Japan, where I’m enjoying life both professionally and personally. Since graduating, I’ve noticed an increase in tourists who come to Japan for its advanced beauty treatments, and I’m proud to be a part of that industry. In my free time, I love learning more about cosmetics and staying updated with the latest beauty trends.

Where are you working and in what position? What do you enjoy most about your job?

I am currently working in a medical beauty clinic in Japan as a physician assistant and concierge. This is my dream job, and I enjoy it immensely. The aspect I love the most is being able to assist clients with both medical and beauty concerns. It’s incredibly fulfilling to help people achieve their desired results and improve their confidence. I also enjoy working with advanced beauty treatments, especially when helping expats and tourists who seek Japan’s cutting-edge beauty solutions.

How was your experience at NIC, and how did it help you achieve this milestone?

My time at NIC was invaluable. I not only learned the business side of the salon industry but also gained hands-on experience as an esthetician during practical training at school. Additionally, my co-op program in Canada helped me understand global beauty standards and the demand for Japanese beauty techniques. NIC truly prepared me to hit the ground running in my career by providing a strong foundation in both practical and theoretical knowledge. Even medical skin conditions, which I learned about in school, are relevant to my work today.

What advice would you give to those pursuing a career in spa/esthetics?

My advice would be, “Trust your teachers and study hard.” The knowledge and skills you gain during your education are incredibly valuable. Even after graduating, I still refer to my textbooks, and they continue to help me in my daily work. Dedication to learning will set you up for success.
