Philip Granger, Head of NIC’s Film Acting Conservatory for over 25 years, appears in one of the most talked-about films of 2026. A24’s Backrooms features Philip opposite Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor in what is shaping up to be one of the year’s standout releases.

If you ask Phil about his character, he’ll only tell you one thing: “a presence in the hum” — and that’s all he’s giving us.
Backrooms is in theatres now. We’re incredibly proud of Philip and everything he brings to this community — as an educator and as a working actor.
