HOW OFF YOUR BEST HALLOWEEN LOOK
Come in costume and enter the NICOWEEN Costume Contest and chance to win the prizes below:
1st Place— $100
2nd Place— $75
3rd Place— $50
No advance Costume Contest sign-up needed — just let us know at check-in that you want to compete! Everyone attending the party NICOWEEN gets a vote, with winners announced later in the evening.
Group costumes are welcome, but prizes are awarded individually. Makeup Competition models cannot enter the Costume Contest.
Makeup Competition
NIC MAKEUP STUDENTS + GRADS — THIS ONE’S FOR YOU.
Create a Halloween, horror, fantasy or SFX look and put your skills to work at the NICOWEEN Makeup Competition.
You’ll have the afternoon to create your look in the Makeup Lab before finished models join the party for the People’s Choice Award. NICOWEEN attendees will vote, and the winner will be announced later during the party. The winner will receive a makeup kit (check details below) and a $100 Fibertek Gift Card.
Competitor check-in — 2:30 PM
Competition — 3:00–7:00 PM
Model presentation — approx. 7:15 PM
People’s Choice voting — approx. 7:30 PM
Each entry is one makeup artist + one adult model.

Makeup Competition Overview
Important: Read the information below to get a general idea of how the makeup competition will work, and review all the competition details and rules in the document linked below.
Who can compete?
Current NIC Makeup students and NIC Makeup graduates. Competition entries are individual, with one makeup artist and one adult model per entry.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your model, makeup products, tools and equipment, any required airbrush compressor, prosthetics or specialty elements, and any wardrobe or accessories needed for your finished look.
NIC provides Makeup Lab access and an assigned workstation.
What can I prepare ahead of time?
Costumes, prosthetic/piece work, pre-painted pieces, mixed paints, barrier cream and accessories may be prepared in advance.
The actual application and completion of your makeup look happens during the 3:00–7:00 PM competition period.
How does People’s Choice work?
Finished models are presented by number so voting stays anonymous.
Everyone attending NICOWEEN receives one vote for the Makeup Competition.
Competitors cannot reveal which model is theirs before voting closes.
What is the prize?
The winner of NICOWEEN’s Makeup Competition, chosen through the People’s Choice voting, will win:
- $100 Makeup Gift Card
- Makeup Kit (photo below)

Who can come?
NIC students, alumni and staff are welcome — and friends + family can come too.
Do I need to RSVP?
Yes. Space is limited, so RSVP in advance. Walk-ins may be accommodated if space allows.
Will there be drinks?
Yes — snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and party drinks will be available. Alcohol is available to guests 19+ with valid government-issued ID, with a maximum of three alcoholic drinks per eligible attendee.
Anything to know about costumes?
Have fun with it, but leave realistic weapons, dangerous props and open flames at home.
Photos + video?
Yes. Photography and video will be captured during NICOWEEN for New Image College communications and promotional content. By attending the party, you allow to have photos/videos captured.
